This course will prepare you to handle potentially stressful situations and help you to use sound judgment in your diving adventures. Learn accident management and skills needed to deal with panic and rescues.
Learn specialized techniques for minor equipment repairs and maintenance. Course will also cover the use of special maintenance products and the importance of proper care of diving equipment.
Learn about diving physics, diving physiology, decompression theory, the components of a total diving system and the aquatic environment.
This class will educate you about the fish you will encounter in the Caribbean, Bahamas and in Florida’s waters. You will learn the name and characterizes soc common species, plus where to find rare life forms. This class is fun as well as information and uses Paul Hummans’ Reef Fish Identification as a textbook.
Upon completion of this course, each student will be able to consistently take good quality underwater photographs of divers and marine life.
Also referred to as safe air, in this class students will learn what Nitrox is, its benefits and limitations and about special equipment used when diving with Nitrox.
Join us for this class and learn underwater communication skills used in limited visibility and night dives. Dos and don’ts as they relate to night diving will be discussed. Students will learn about specialty equipment such as: primary and backup lights, strobe placement, surface lights and line.
Students will learn and practice a variety of boat diving techniques, such as using specialized equipment, planning and conducting dives, and buddy assistance – all in the open water from a boat under an instructors’ guidance and supervision. Skills such as equipment, packing techniques, equipment stowing and boat entry techniques will be discussed.
Students will learn skills related to deep diving such as the use of descent and ascent lines and specialize equipment (high performance regulators, heavier lift buoyancy compensators, warmer exposure suits, dive computers, primary and backup lights and backup tanks.
Learn how to navigate with a compass and how to apply natural navigation skills. Estimate distances, navigate different search patterns, find your way to different marking points, and be able to get back to the exit point at any time.
In continuing with SSI’s requirement for experience in conjunction with education, the Master Diver rating is available for anyone who has completed The Stress and Rescue course, the Advanced Course, one elective specialty course and 50 open water dives. The only cost for this rating is the certification card – available at DiVentures.
To be eligible for this rating you must log 100 dives or more. There are no classes required for this certification beyond Open Water Diver.
This course is a combined Dive Master and Assistant Instructor rating. This course is for those who wish to be involved in a leadership position and teach new students with the help of an SSI instructor. Dive Cons are able to assist with pool and open water classes, teach Try Scuba and Scuba Skills Update courses.
