Sarah has been diving since high school and was certified by our very own Pat Purkhiser. She was fortunate enough to intern and eventually become a summer keeper in the aquarium for two summers at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo and dive in their tanks. She also served as a summer keeper for the Bird department at the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo for two summers.
Sarah recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology. During her time at this university she worked with Dr. Adam Jones to study the underlying hormones responsible for courtship behavior in Sygnathus scovelli and to develop husbandry protocol for Doryramphus excisis.
Her real passion however is sharks and other elasmobranches. She hopes to one day do a master’s thesis on ontogenetic shifts and contribute to future shark conservation projects.
“The more I see of this exotic underwater world, the more I realize how much more there is to discover and how much work is still ahead of me.” (She really likes sharks… can you tell!)
