Scott was born and raised in Springfield, MO. When the opportunity presented itself his freshman year of college to get SCUBA certified, he jumped at it. Over the next few years he did a lot of local diving, with a few trips to the Caribbean. One day in the scuba store while talking with one of the salesman, the idea of becoming a dive instructor came up. We happened to be looking for an instructor to help with Kanakuk Kamps the next summer. Scott jumped at the opportunity and got certified as an instructor in time for kamp that summer.
Scott is very involved with Boy Scouts and teaches a lot of the Boy Scout Open Water classes at DiVentures. He is an Eagle Scout and is very active with his troop and with the Ozark Trails Council. He loves the outdoors and does anything and everything he can outside.
Instructor Gear:
Scuba Pro Clear Vu Mask
Scuba Pro Twin Jet Fins
Scuba Pro Phoenix Snorkel
Balance BC
Apex Regulator
Cobra 2 or D9 Computer
Why did you choose that gear?
I love the large viewing area on my mask. It is very comfortable! My fins make it easy to glide through the water and take little effort. The rest of my gear is easy to use and makes me feel comfortable and safe.
What is your favorite place to dive?
So far my very favorite place has been Cozumel! The second best place would be Aruba.
What got you into scuba diving?
Scuba was something that has always interested me, and when the opportunity came up in college I jumped on it. I have been hooked ever since
What is your favorite part of teaching?
Seeing students first reactions when breathing underwater for the first time. When they become comfortable and when they say how much they enjoy it and where they want to go diving. I really enojy showing others how to do something that I love to do.
